Tilly writes about the intersection of technology, government policy and the economy, covering the strategic logic behind China’s industrial policies, the development of its emerging technology sectors, and their global impact. She joined Gavekal Dragonomics in 2023 after seven years at Gavekal Fathom China, where she covered semiconductors and technology industry developments.

Tilly studied journalism at Xi’an International Studies University and once ran the anime club there. Having lived in ten cities across China and four in the US, she is now based in Beijing in a home she designed herself, where she is learning gardening and keeping her plants barely alive.
